July 2010 - we have now entered the final stages of the revised planning application for the Wallington Local Care Centre redevelopment and the contractor has been on site preparing to commence work. The revised planning application was in relation to some fairly minor changes to the shape and external view of the building so we do not anticipate any problems with this but there is obviously a process to follow. The target date for completion is still Autumn 2011. We will keep you informed of progress. For further information please contact Andrew Grimes who is managin the project on behalf of Sutton and Merton PCT by email at andrew.grimes@smpct.nhs.uk or by post to Andrew Grimes, Project Manager, Better Healthcare Closer to Home, Sutton & Merton PCT, 120 The Broadway, Wimbledon, SW191RH.

May 2010 - As from Saturday, 23rd May we will no longer be open on a Saturday morning. There have been changes to extended hours and some funding has been withdrawn. This has meant we have had to review how we offer extended hours to our patients and following an audit it was decided that the early morning and evening appointments were more popular and well attended than Saturday mornings. We had experienced a much higher rate of failure to attend booked appointments on a Saturday morning (13%) compared to weekday extended hours (3%). We have early appointments from 7.30 am on a Tuesday and Thursday and evening appointments from 6.30 to 7.45 pm on a Monday and Wednesday. These are aimed at commuters and others who find getting to the surgery to see a doctor or nurse difficult during regular opening hours. If you have an appointment outside our reguar opening hours you will need to buzz reception at the front door to gain access. For security reasons the building is only fully open from 8am to 7pm weekdays. Please do not attend the premises on a Saturday morning to collect prescriptions or for other general enquiries as there will be no staff from our practice here to assist you. Wallington Family Practice on 2nd floor do not have access to prescriptions or information relating to our patients so their staff will be unable to help you.

April 2010. A new central NHS computer system is coming to this area soon, called the Summary Care Record (SCR). The Summary Care Record is to help emergency doctors and nurses help you when you contact them when the surgery is closed. At the moment every patient has separate records kept about them in doctor’s surgeries, hospitals, clinics and all the places where they receive treatment. The SCR will benefit all staff and patients by giving healthcare staff faster, easier access to reliable information so they can provide more effective treatment to patients. Your SCR will contain important information about your health, such as details of any allergies, your current prescriptions and whether you have had any bad reactions to medicines. SCRs are gradually being introduced across England. We are telling you about this before your SCR is ready, so you have time to think about your options. Once your SCR is created NHS staff will ask you if they can look at it every time they need to. If you do not want us to make an SCR for you, you can choose not to have one by Opting Out. For more information on the SCR or to Opt Out please go to the following website – www.nhscarerecords.nhs.uk or call our NHS Care records Service Information line on - 0845 603 8510

December 2009. We have now moved to our new premises at the address shown on our home page. As you may already be aware, this is a temporary decant facility for us whilst the health centre is re-developed. We hope you find our new premises a welcoming and comfortable environment. Our practice is located on the 3rd floor which can be accessed by the lift or stairs from the main entrance off Jubilee Gardens or via the ramp through the car park. There is a drop off box in the ground floor lobby area where messages or repeat prescription requests can be left to save you time in coming up to the 3rd floor. This box is emptied at least once daily but usually more than that. Please ensure you allow at least 2 working days for repeat prescription requests to be processed.

December 2009. Our extended hours have now commenced with appointments until 19:40 with a GP on a Monday and Wednesday evening and from 07:30 with a GP or nurse on a Tuesday or Thursday morning. Also with appointments on a Saturday morning with a GP and alternate weeks with a nurse from 09:00 to 11:30. These appointments are designed to be used by those patients who are working and find it difficult to get to the surgery at other time.
Please note the building is officially open from 08:00 to 19:00 Monday to Friday so if attending for appointments made outside these hours you will need to buzz reception at the front door to gain access. Also please note there is no provision for walk-in emergencies during extended hours weekdays or Saturday morning. If you require urgent medical attention and do not already have an appointment please do not come to the surgery, you should contact Croydoc in the normal way by telephoning the surgery on 02085442355.
